Fix problems with Android apps

If your Yahoo app isn't working on your Android device, these troubleshooting tips can help you solve the problem and get it working again.

App is slow, freezes, or crashes

Complete each step before moving to the next one:

  1. Update your device's operating system to the latest version.
  2. Clear your app data and cache.
  3. Force stop and restart the app.
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the app.
  5. Contact your device manufacturer for steps to fix app issues on your specific device.

Feature unavailable on a mobile device

Sign in problems

Mobile number has changed

If you get a new phone number, but you're still using the same phone, follow these steps.

  1. Go to your Account settings page and click your existing number.
  2. Click Add recovery phone number.
  3. Enter your mobile number in the space provided.
  4. Click Send SMS.
    - Yahoo sends a push notification to your phone.
  5. Enter the Account Key in the space provided.
  6. Click Verify.

Problems with Android Mail Sign-in

If you're having trouble connecting to your Yahoo Mail account in the native Android Mail app, remove your Yahoo Mail account then re-add it in Android Mail.

Connection problems

Check network access

Make sure your device can connect to the internet. If it can't connect, apps won't work.

Review your app permissions
